Can you read the letters on the bottom line?

I had to go for my regular eye test today. I've been having some pretty hefty migraines of late, some lasting up to 3 days, so I was rather looking forward to speaking with the optician, who confirmed that I need a stronger prescription as well as an anti-glare coating. I'll sort those out next week (because I forgot to bring a  spare pair of specs with me so that I could drive) and I'm hopeful that they will sort out my headaches.
boots - Clarks (gift); Skirt - Gift; Bag - Joules (gift); Jacket - charity shop;
Waistcoat - Basler (vintage); Shirt - Levis (was hubby's); Gloves - Isotoner; Hat - hubby's

Afterwards I was off to Solihull for a meander around the shops, and I just had the urge to dress a bit equestrian today with a a mismatch of tweeds and the lovely boots hubby bought me for Christmas. Not to mention the lovely brooch that darling Helga sent to me. I'm totally fed up of coats right now, so I opted for layers, layers and more layers.It worked.
Brooch from Helga
I was surprisingly lucky in Solihull, usually their second hand shops are mighty expensive and I come home empty handed. I was looking in particular for casual tops, does anyone else have the situation where they have lots of skirts but barely any tops? I do, hence looking for tops. I hadn't intended to find the most beautiful green velvet maxi skirt too, which means I still haven't done anything to balance up the skirt to top ratio of my wardrobe. Ah well, it's a burden I can live with.
Skirt - £4.99 Oxfam (per una); Top - £1.99 Oxfam (George)
I have to say, I was mighty tempted by some of the final reductions in the high street shops, but I was really good and just stuck to second hand, saintly I know.

You are not alone! I have umpteen skirts but rarely wear them because I don't have tops to go with them. Love the maxi it's gorgeous, what a great find. xxx

You do the whole heritage/equestrian look so well, Louise - you should have been the Lady of some stately home in the country, reprimanding the naughty stable lads and flirting with the head groom!
Hope the new specs sort out your migraines, and good to see you had some luck in the secondhand department! xxx

I agree with Curtise, you do the country lady look so well! Helga's pretty brooch and the pink accents are a great touch.
Hope that the new prescription sorts out the migraine issues.
Hoorah for charity shop finds, tops are always tricky! x

You look great ... a nice way to shuck the coat! I'm sick of wearing them too. Such a beautiful brooch.

As for tops versus bottoms, I find myself to be the opposite ... More tops than bottoms. I tend to wear black on the bottom so no point having multiples as they all basically look the same. In fact, I was out shopping this week specifically to find a non-black bottom piece, but had no luck. Did find a cute top though, further adding to the imbalance.

I love your green velvet skirt! So pretty.
