Exploring other options

Well quite, I didn't know what SEO was before. I'm sure lots of you guys knew it was search engine optimisation, and indeed what that means, but no, I'm a simple girl and had no idea. That was until today when I attended a free workshop aimed at people interested in starting their own business. I've toyed with the idea of starting a business before, I have lots of skills and interests that I think I could turn into profit making ventures, but whether I'd be brave enough to go for it or not is a whole other matter. Nonetheless, I had the time free to attend, and thought it might be useful to go to, just in case finding a job is harder than it already appears to be. It's common in times of recession for more people to set up in business isn't it? I can see why.

Anyway, with a casual dress code I thought I'd take the opportunity to wear this bright but comfortable Next dress that I bought earlier in the month in the sales, and off I trotted to Birmingham. It seemed odd going out in the commuter rush, it felt kind of nice being part of the rat race again for a morning.

The course itself was quite useful, I thought. Largely it covered selling online, or at the very least online marketing, and covered everything from selling on Amazon, to building an inexpensive website for yourself, to making sure you feature highly in search rankings. If I do ever come to be self employed it would certainly be useful information to know.

After lunch (I was at the end of the lunch queue so what was left wasn't that nice) I decided that the afternoon's programme, centred largely of exporting, would be of no use to anything I would ever want to do. So, I took it upon myself to take a wander around Birmingham. I was trying to avoid spending anything as I really need to be more frugal... at least until I nail an income, and so when all I'd bought was £3 worth of jersey to make a skirt, I was quite smug. Then you see, it all went down hill. I went into Schuh. I've always wanted a pair of Irregular Choice shoes, their crazy designs just appeal to my sense of fun. I always find them so expensive though, even on eBay they always seem to go very expensive in my size, but Schuh had the last of the sale items in, and there were a pair of Courtesan heels in green in my size. The sequins and sparkle screamed at me, I tried them on and fell in love and the rest is history. I hope to wear these for a night out on Sunday, aren't they lush?

Now, these really do need to be my last purchase.
